Paneer Frankie 🌯

Paneer is also called as cottage cheese.The only difference between Paneer & Cottage Cheese is that while Paneer is unsalted, Cottage Cheese is salted and may sometimes have heavy cream in it. The steps involved in making these cheeses are the same. Paneer is loved by all ages. Paneer is rich in protein and its a ideal for diabetic people.

Paneer doesn’t have any taste to it so we actually marinate them with salt, chili powder , coriander powder , turmeric powder , ginger and garlic paste. To get some flavor to it. Tikka is a dish consisting of pieces of meat or vegetarian alternatives such as paneer with its origins tracing back to the Mughal dynasty. It is made by marinating the pieces in spices and yogurt and cooking them in a tandoor

Frankie is nothing but a chapathi. A Frankie is a roti or chappati, with a layer of egg inside, smeared with a sauce or chutney, and then filled with whatever leftovers you have around.roll stuffed with vegetables and some sauces of your choice.

This veg frankie recipe is one of the most loved Indian street food! Whole wheat roti or chapati is layered with spiced mashed potato rolls, green chutney, chopped onions, pickled green chilies, and frankie masala.

I’m a big lover of Frankie and Frankie doesn’t taste good with a frankie masala .so here is the homemade frankie masala recipe.


  • Paneer. – 1 cup
  • Onion 🧅 – 1/2 thinly sliced
  • Carrot 🥕 – 1 julienned
  • Cabbage 🥬 – 1/2 julienned
  • Mint chutney. – 3 tbsp
Paneer Marination:
  • Frankie masala. -2 tbsp
  • Ginger – 1 tsp
  • Garlic 🧄 – 1 tsp
  • Curd – 2 tbsp
For chappathi:
  • Wheat flour. – 4 handful
  • Salt. – 1 tsp
  • Water. – 1/4 cup
  • Oil. – 1 tsp

Step 1:

In a bowl add in the wheat flour and add up the salt and mix them together once it done add in some salt and mix and combine them well. Now add water 1/4 cup kneed them until soft and smooth kneed them at least for 5 minutes. If water isn’t enough add little by little. Kneed them until it’s really soft.

Step 2:

From the whole chappathi ball that has been kneed take a small size ball shaped and roll them thin and round if it’s getting to sticky then dust them with wheat flour and roll it perfectly.

Step 3:

Now in a pan turn the flame on and put the chapathi when the air bubbles start to appear on the top of the chappathi flip them to the other side wait till the other side has got the brown spots put them now to the flame directly and it blow up like poori. And the chappathi is done ✅.

Step 4:

Now marinate the paneer with frankie masala curd and ginger garlic paste and leave them to rest for 20 minutes to the least.Now in pan brush some oil and toast the marinated paneer on both sides. It leaves some water . Fry them only for few minutes. Frying it in high flame for long time makes it harder. Stick to the time for 4 to 5 minutes.

Step 5:

Now in a plate take either Aluminum foil or baking paper. Place the chapathi over it covering 1/4th if the chappathi as well the paper. Now apply mint chutney all over the chappathi and add in the vegetables then top some paneer and sprinkle frankie masala all over the chappathi roll the along the paper or foil and fold the bottom.

Step 7 :

Serve them hot with mint chutney or tomato sauce.

  • You can use maida flour instead of wheat flour for a softer chappathi.
  • Make sure the paneer is soft and add extra salt if needed while toasting them.
  • Cutting the vegetables thin and julienned makes the Frankie better.
