Mushroom kurma

We going to make the Mushroom Kurma or Korma recipe which is super easy and I’m going to explain it in step by step photos – a delicious one pot recipe of South Indian style mushroom kurma curry. Gluten-free and vegan recipe.

Kurma is always been a side dish which can be done on the go. If you are trying to break your head for what to make for your breakfast or the side dish this recipe is going to give you hand and its super easy. Unlike the other kurma, mushroom kurma needs some special care to clean mushroom with turmeric and salt


  • Onion 🧅. – 2 big
  • Mushroom 🍄. – 1 cup
  • Chili powder. – 2 tbsp
  • Turmeric powder. – 1 tsp
  • Coriander powder – 1 tbsp
  • Garam Masala. – 1 tsp
  • Salt. – 2 tbsp
  • Ginger garlic paste – 2 tbsp
Ingredients to grind:
  • Coconut 🥥 – 2 to 3 pieces ( 1 inch )
  • Cashew Nut – 4 to 5
  • Tomato 🍅 – 2 medium
  • Mint Leaves – 1 hand full
  • Coriander leaves. – 1/2 hand full
  • Green chili – 2
To temper :
  • Oil. – 3 tbsp
  • Cumin seeds. – 1 tsp
  • Fennel seeds. – 1 tbsp
  • Bay leaf. – 1
  • Dry red chili. – 4
  • Curry leaves. – to temper

Step 1 :

Cut mushroom in desired shapes . Now wash and rinse them at least 2 to 3 time sin running water until its clean and soak them in water with turmeric and salt. Once done keep aside now chop onions and keep aside. Cut the tomatoes and other ingredients mentioned under to grind and grind them and keep aside.

Step 2:

You can grind coconut , cashews and then grind the tomatoes and the leaves. Once all done. Turn on the flame place the cooker on the stove and pour oil. Then add in the ingredients mentioned under tempering. Once the tempering done add in the chopped onions and sauté them til it gets translucent and add in the mushrooms and sauté them too.

Step 3:

Now, add in the grinder paste and mix them up until they are mixed up well. Once the tomatoes are cooked leaving behind the raw smell. Add in the spices and cover the cooker with lid and add on the whistle . Once the whistle blows for 1 time turn off the flame and serve them hot with chapathi, poori or veg Pulao Or biryani.
